Growing in Faith

For those students and parents who have a faith, it can be grounding force and guide in your life. During COVID, many churches have been closed and gathering with people who share your faith can be hard.

How can you remains strong and continue to grow your faith during high school and college? Here are a few tips that can help you keep your faith strong as well as continue to grow your faith.

  1. Stay connected to God’s word – Be intentional about reading scripture, listening to praise music as well as finding podcasts that encourage you.

  2. Journaling – Keeping a journal of prayers for yourself and others as well as answered prayers in your life can be a great encouragement to you.

  3. Find Community – Find like minded people who can help encourage you in your faith and help you grow and have connected conversations with them.

  4. Remain true to your values, morals and standards.

  5. Spend time meditating and remembering the things that God has done in your life.

  6. Learn the power of meditating and prayer. Be intentional about making time to connect with God and focus on your relationship with him.

Staying connected to your faith is very important and can bring peace and joy to your life. In John 15, Jesus tells us how important it is to stay connected.

The Vine and the Branches

15 “I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes[a] so that it will be even more fruitful. You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.

“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.
